ABC has put a stop to its "Thieves." The network has canceled the John Stamos and Melissa George series, halting production on the remaining three episodes ordered, a spokesperson for the network confirms.

Airing Friday nights at 9 p.m., the light-hearted spy caper has had a hard time attracting an audience, pulling an average of 9.6 million viewers with a 3.8/12 share in adults 18-49. This past week, "Thieves" took a bit of a dive in the ratings, despite a strong lead-in from "America's Funniest Home Videos" the series only managed to pull 7.2 million viewers and a 2.6/7 among adults 18-49.

"Thieves" followed two crooks who end up having to work for the government in order to avoid jail time. Eight episodes of the show have aired, with two more in the can.

The series was the network's last freshman show still awaiting its fate. The network has picked up the freshman shows "Alias," "According to Jim" and "Philly," while it canceled "Bob Patterson" and the sophomore comedy "What About Joan." "The Runner" and "The Mole II" have both been put on hiatus, possibly returning in midseason.
